Active Seniors Program a second home for Vince

Quiet and unassuming, Vince downplays the length of his involvement with Keystone Community Services when he says "it goes back a little ways." In fact, Vince has been connected with Keystone  (and its predecessor agency, Merriam Park Community Services) for nearly 30 years. After farming in southwestern Minnesota, Vince moved to St. Paul's Merriam Park neighborhood in the 1956. When a bowling buddy mentioned that Keystone needed volunteers, Vince signed up to help distribute  food commodities to low-income families (the program is no longer offered).

Vince also got involved as a Meals on Wheels volunteer driver, something he did for more than 15 years. Today, Vince's daughter-in-law continues the family's Meals on Wheels volunteer tradition. Twice widowed (he met his second wife, Lois, while playing bridge at Keystone), Vince enjoys the conversation and friendships he's made over the years in the Keystone's Active Seniors Program. Every week, you can find him playing cards, getting exercise and taking part in the program's parties and events. Vince is pictured here at the Active Seniors' annual Valentine's Day party.
