  • Tin Cup's has some fun and supports Keystone

    The team at Tin Cup’s restaurant at 1220 Rice Street has both a sense of humor and a great community spirit — they turned a misunderstanding into a generous contribution to Keystone's food shelves. Here's what happened. Last fall, Tin Cup's new owners Gidget Bailey and Joan Knippenberg decided to treat their customers by giving away hot dogs during a Vikings game. Turns out some neighbors complained and the North End restaurant was fined $500 by the city for not having a permit to cook outdoors. Read more »

  • St. Paul women's club makes giving a holiday tradition

    Founded in 1922, the King's Maplewood Women's Club is not only a way for women to build community spirit in their neighborhood — which is bounded by Goodrich and St. Clair Avenues, Cretin Avenue and Mississippi River Boulevard — but also to do good works for the broader community. This year, the 60-member organization continued its tradition of  donating the proceeds of its holiday auction to Keystone Community Services, along with contributing a number of winter hats, mittens, pajamas, underwear and a set of china.   • Wrapping up a bountiful holiday season

  • Young people spearhead food collections

    A big Keystone thanks goes out to youth group members at Grace Church in Roseville and University of Minnesota students who live in the Marcy Park Student Housing Cooperative in Minneapolis. Both groups devoted much of Saturday, November 19, to food drives that help Keystone keep its three food shelves well-stocked. Read more »

  • A brighter Thanksgiving

    Some 750 Keystone food shelf client families — more than 2,200 people in all — received all the fixings for a Thanksgiving dinner, as part of the Emergency Food Network Baskets of Hope program. Distributions of the meals -- complete with a turkey, chicken, pie and all the trimmings — took place at each of Keystone's three food shelf locations during the week before Thanksgiving. "We just would have gone without a Thanksgiving dinner if we hadn't had this," said a Keystone client after picking up all the fixings for the traditional feast at the Roseville Food Shelf last week.
